Best Practices to Follow
Length, Length, Length
No matter how complex or unique your password is, length always triumphs complexity. Make sure to use long passwords for all of your accounts as it makes it extremely hard to brute force a password. In general, it is a good practice to maintain atleast 15 characters for each password.
Make your passwords strong and unique
It's not just about length, complexity also plays a major role in good password security. A strong password is one that is difficult to guess and contains a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using easily guessable information such as your name, birthdate, or common words. Using a different password for each account is important because if a hacker gets ahold of one password, they will not be able to access all of your accounts.
Use a Password Manager
A password manager can generate random, complex passwords and store them in an encrypted format. This means that even if a hacker gains access to the password manager, they will not be able to read your passwords. It also comes in handy as it is almost impossible to keep a mental note of all of your passwords, if they are all unique, which they should be.
Multi Factor Authentication
Multi-factor authentication adds extra layers of security to your accounts by requiring secondary forms of verification, such as a fingerprint or a code sent to your phone, in addition to your password. Most applications already have this feature, so use it!
